Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers from Royal Wood Flooring LLC. Still unsure? Call (602) 446-2613.
Where are you based and where do you work?+
815 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ. We work across the Valley: Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe. Call (602) 446-2613 to arrange a consultation.
What does your 100% Service Guarantee mean?+
It is the promise on our service pages: we stand behind our work 100%. If something about our installation or finish is not right, we come back and make it right.
Do you give free estimates?+
Yes — quotes start with a call to (602) 446-2613. We measure the rooms, check the subfloor and moisture, and give you a written price for the full job.
Can my old hardwood floor be saved?+
It depends on the floor. Surface scratches and dull finish usually refinish beautifully; deep pet stains, water damage and worn-through boards may need board replacement first. We assess honestly and show you which you have.
Do you do commercial work?+
Yes, we install and refinish floors for commercial spaces as well as homes, and we schedule around business hours where needed.
Do you supply the flooring, or do I buy it?+
Yes — we supply and install hardwood, engineered, laminate and bamboo, and we will tell you honestly which suits your home, your subfloor and your budget.
How long does installation take? (Hardwood Floor Installation)+
In most Phoenix homes, three to seven days from acclimation to final coat, depending on area and finish. We give you the schedule — including when rooms can be walked on — before we start.
Does the wood need to acclimate? (Hardwood Floor Installation)+
Yes. Wood must acclimate to your home's temperature and humidity before installation, especially in Arizona's dry air. Skipping acclimation is the top cause of gapping and cupping — we do not skip it.
How long does refinishing take? (Sanding & Refinishing)+
Usually three to five days for a typical home, including dry and cure windows. One of our own customers' floors were refinished while they were on vacation — they came home to a finished floor. Ask us about timing.
Can severely scratched floors really be restored? (Sanding & Refinishing)+
Often, yes. Deep scratches usually live in the finish, not the wood. Black pet or water stains that have soaked the wood itself may need board replacement — we assess and show you before quoting.
Is engineered wood real wood? (Engineered Wood Flooring)+
The top layer is real wood — you are looking at genuine oak, walnut or hickory. The difference is below the surface: layered construction for stability instead of a solid plank.
Is engineered better for Phoenix slabs? (Engineered Wood Flooring)+
It is one of the best choices: the cross-layered core resists the expansion and contraction that desert humidity swings cause in solid wood, and quality lines install directly over tested slabs.
Is laminate good with dogs and kids? (Laminate Flooring)+
Quality laminate with an AC4 wear layer shrugs off dog claws and kid traffic better than most real wood finishes — and at a fraction of the cost. It is the pragmatic pick for busy family homes.
Can laminate go in kitchens and baths? (Laminate Flooring)+
Water-resistant lines handle kitchen life and spills wiped promptly; no laminate loves standing water or a flooded dishwasher. For baths we will discuss even better-suited options honestly.
Is bamboo really hard? (Bamboo Flooring)+
Strand-woven bamboo is harder than red oak — among the hardest residential floors we install. Horizontal bamboo is softer and more decorative. We match type to your traffic honestly.
Does bamboo handle Arizona's dry air? (Bamboo Flooring)+
Properly manufactured bamboo from established makers performs well; desert-dry air makes acclimation and humidity stability important, and we install accordingly. We only supply lines we trust in this climate.
Can you fix black pet stains? (Wood Floor Repairs)+
Pet stains that have blackened the wood usually need the affected boards replaced — sanding rarely lifts deep urine stains. We replace and weave in matching boards, then refinish so the repair disappears.
Do you replace individual damaged boards? (Wood Floor Repairs)+
Yes — board replacement (lacing-in) is core repair work: damaged boards come out, matching species and grade go in, toothed into the existing floor so there is no visible patch line.
Can you add trim work to my flooring job? (Baseboard, Trim & Crown Molding)+
Yes — trim finishing is one of our seven services, and combining it with flooring saves a second contractor and a second schedule. The flooring quote can include it line by line.
Do you install crown molding too? (Baseboard, Trim & Crown Molding)+
Yes. Crown molding is part of this service — measured, coped at the corners (not just mitered), and finished to furniture standard.
